The equipment consists of the Xuanmiao Core-Membrane and the Wuji Stack. This device combines the advantages of continuous water production, no need for acid-base regeneration, and unattended operation with features such as stable water quality, low operating costs, easy operation and management, and a compact footprint. It can almost completely remove conductive substances and bacteria from water, and also reduce colloidal matter, gases, and organic substances in water to very low levels. It can directly produce pure water and high-purity water to meet the needs of users across various industries and with different requirements.

(II) Working Principle

The Xuanmiao Core-Membrane utilizes the principle of solution osmotic pressure, allowing water molecules and ionized mineral elements to pass through, while the vast majority of inorganic salts, heavy metals, organic matter, as well as bacteria and viruses dissolved in water cannot penetrate it. This strictly separates the permeated pure water from the concentrated reject water. The pores within the Xuanmiao Core-Membrane’s water separator are extremely small, reaching 0.0001 microns. In comparison, viruses typically range from 0.02-0.4 microns, and common bacteria range from 0.4-1 microns in diameter. It allows only water to pass while blocking impurities, effectively separating other substances from water. It can efficiently remove dissolved salts, colloids, microorganisms, and organic matter from water.

The Wuji Stack is a continuous purification process that organically combines electrodialysis and ion exchange. It consists of a certain number of cell pairs housed between two electrodes. Within each cell pair, there are two different types of compartments: diluting (freshwater) compartments and concentrating (brine) compartments. The diluting compartments are filled with a mixed bed of cation and anion exchange resins, situated between two membranes. These resins are continuously regenerated by the direct current applied across the compartments. Ions in the water are attracted to their respective electrodes. As these ions migrate through the ion-exchange resins into the concentrating compartments, they combine to form pure water. These impurity ions are prevented from migrating further towards their corresponding electrodes by the blocking action of the adjacent ion-exchange resins in the neighboring compartments. Consequently, the impurity ions become concentrated in the brine compartments, and this concentrated brine containing the ions can then be discharged from the stack.
